Business Skills for Kids (Ages 8–10)
by Foundations Skills Academy
A 10-week structured after-school programme teaching children practical money skills, simple business concepts, and real-world problem-solving — through hands-on activities and guided discussion.
No payment or commitment required.
Schools do a great job teaching academic subjects — but many children have limited exposure to practical life skills such as how money works, how decisions are made, and how ideas turn into real-world outcomes.
This programme was created to help children understand the world around them in a simple, age-appropriate way — through discussion, activities, and guided exploration.
There is no pressure, no selling, and no “hustle culture.”
The focus is on confidence, curiosity, and practical understanding — skills that support children both in school and in everyday life.

Join the Waiting ListBusiness Skills for Kids is delivered locally through Foundations Skills Academy, a community-based education provider focused on practical life skills for children.
The programme was developed by Hein Pretorius, Founder and Programme Director, with over a decade of experience building, analysing, and operating real-world businesses in New Zealand and internationally.
The idea for the programme was shaped by his experience as a parent, recognising the need for children to better understand money, decision-making, and how everyday businesses work — skills not typically taught in schools.
Drawing on extensive research and real-world experience, the curriculum was carefully designed and piloted to ensure concepts are introduced in a structured, age-appropriate, and engaging way.
All sessions follow a consistent teaching framework and are delivered in a supervised community setting.
